Assam Rifles Provides Critical Blood Support During Medical Emergency in Ukhrul

In a swift response to a life-threatening medical emergency, Assam Rifles provided vital blood support to a patient in Ukhrul, Manipur. The intervention followed an urgent request from Mr. R. Muinao Tangkhul, a retired ENT professor, for his wife, Mrs. Muinao. She was undergoing treatment at Leishiyopung Christian Hospital for severe anaemia and post-menopausal bleeding, a condition requiring an immediate transfusion of two units of blood.

While the family managed to arrange one unit, they faced difficulty securing further civilian donors due to the urgency and timing of the requirement. Assam Rifles personnel mobilised resources without delay to meet the shortfall. One unit was supplied during the night to ensure immediate intervention, followed by a second unit the next morning. This timely assistance by the troops played a pivotal role in stabilising the patient and supporting her recovery.

Beyond operational duties, this act of compassion underscores the steadfast commitment of Assam Rifles to humanitarian service and its enduring ethos of standing by the people during crises. Such initiatives are essential in today’s world, where rapid response and community solidarity form the backbone of a resilient healthcare framework. Assam Rifles further appeals to individuals and organisations to participate in voluntary blood donation to strengthen regional medical services.
