Assam Rifles Seize Methamphetamine Worth ₹33.18 Crore in Mizoram

Saitual, Mizoram – January 3, 2026: Acting on specific intelligence regarding narcotics trafficking along the Indo–Myanmar border, Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Mizoram Police, seized a large consignment of methamphetamine tablets in the Kaifang area of Saitual district on January 2.

During the operation, security personnel observed suspicious activity and conducted a search, leading to the recovery of 11.062 kg of methamphetamine tablets, estimated to be worth ₹33.186 crore in the international market.

A person, Hasan Ali, a resident of Badarpur district in Assam, was apprehended during the operation. The vehicle used for transporting the contraband was also seized.

The recovered drugs, the vehicle, and the arrested individual have been handed over to Mizoram Police, Saitual, for further investigation.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to curbing cross-border drug trafficking and strengthening security along the sensitive Indo–Myanmar border.
