Acting on specific input, Assam Rifles and New Keithelmanbi Police jointly set up a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) at Haibung area along NH-37 in Kangpokpi District and seized approximately 68 tonnes of illegally transported Areca Nuts.
The consignment was being carried in two trucks bearing Nagaland registration numbers. Upon inspection, the consignment was found to be transported without valid documentation, including mandatory Transit Permits from the Forest Department.
The seized goods and vehicles were handed over to the New Keithelmanbi Forest Beat under Kangpokpi Forest Division for further legal action and investigation.
