In a significant breakthrough against arms smuggling along the Indo-Myanmar border, Assam Rifles seized a stock of war-like stores during an operation near Zote village in Champhai district.
Following credible intelligence, Assam Rifles troops, accompanied by local police representatives, conducted a search near the Tiau River. The operation led to the discovery of a hidden bag containing three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), two improvised drone bombs, and two radio sets.
Officials said the seizure highlights the growing threat of cross-border smuggling of sophisticated weapons and equipment that could be used by insurgent groups.
The recovered materials were handed over to the Champhai Police for further investigation and legal action.
