Assam Trafficker Nabbed Near Mao With 5.6 Kg WY in Pre-Dawn Bust

In a coordinated pre-dawn crackdown against drug trafficking, a joint team of Senapati Police, Assam Rifles, and CRPF carried out frisking and checking at Phikomei Junction, about 2 km south of Mao Police Station along NH-2 at around 6:30 am today. The security personnel intercepted one individual, leading to a major seizure of suspected WY (methamphetamine) tablets.

According to police, a total of five packets of suspected WY tablets weighing approximately 5.669 kg were recovered during the operation. Along with the contraband, the team also seized a Tata vehicle (Batch 6-1916, Reg. No. AS01SC 3236 – red) with its key, one mobile phone, a debit card, and cash amounting to Rs. 1,420.

The arrested person has been identified as AI Mamun (30), son of Sona Ulla, hailing from VTC-Batabari, PO Markula, PS Baguan, Sub-Division Balijana, District Goalpara, Assam. He has been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings are underway at Mao Police Station.
