As many as seven (7) cadres of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN), including 5 cadres of NSCN (IM), have joined the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF), which is currently engaging in talks with the Government of India. The armed outfit regarded the joining event as a “homecoming,” and the Front said it has been anticipating the merging in of Zeliangrong cadres and leaders now in different Naga factions into the only revolutionary organization of the Zeliangrong kindred people, according to a press statement by ZUF Information & Publicity Secretary Louis Gangmie.
According to the outfit, the cadres were identified as Major Alex Haihing (NSCN-U); Sergeant Major Gaisingduan Dangmei (NSCN-U); Captain Jangkulung Gangmei (NSCN-IM); Captain Meihuandai Kamei (NSCN-IM); Section Officer (SO) Namjuanang Pame (NSCN-IM); Khapur Jacob Malangmei (NSCN-IM); and Corporal Mayanglung Gangmei (NSCN-IM).
The ZUF said it basically established its bedrock on the foundation of the Zeliangrong Peoples’ Movement, commonly called the ZPC movement, to secure the homeland. Its history of struggle had been set alongside the Indian freedom movement, and the people lately realised that fighting for their own homeland must precede the general Naga nationalism.
