Kakching AC MLA M. Rameshwor alleged that Kakching District, formed as a full-fledged revenue district carved out of the former Kakching Sub-division, has its boundaries clearly notified in the State Gazette. However, during the implementation of several central schemes, the area is still being shown under Chandel or Tengnoupal district. Because of such misleading classifications and the resulting confusion among the public, authorities and departments have failed to perform their duties properly, MLA Rameshwor stated.
The MLA of Kakching Assembly Constituency, M. Rameshwar, stated that senior officials of concerned departments, including the Deputy Commissioner of Kakching and the Chief Secretary, should take up necessary steps to correct these persisting discrepancies at the earliest.
The MLA made this statement while inaugurating two new roads constructed under paver-block technology — one at Moirangthem Leikai, Pukhri Maning Pareng, and another along L.P. School Pareng on Sunday. These roads were developed to ease public inconvenience.
MLA M. Rameshwar also stated that senior officials of concerned departments, including the Deputy Commissioner of Kakching and the Chief Secretary, should take up necessary steps to correct these persisting discrepancies at the earliest.
Furthermore, within Kakching and along its district boundary, signboards indicating “Chandel” or “Tengnoupal” are still installed. In this regard, the former Deputy Commissioner of Kakching, Salam Somorjit (IAS), has issued orders for immediate correction and removal of such misleading signage. At present, land revenue taxes for certain villages are now being paid at the Kakching district revenue office, the MLA added.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that his foremost priority is the welfare of the people. He highlighted that during his time as an MLA, he has pushed several key development works such as the construction of a hospital, provision of drinking water supply systems, and the development of internal roads using paver-block technology, including the construction of 55 new roads. Additionally, he has introduced various other schemes and projects for the constituency.
He added that to support youth development and improve human resources, efforts are underway to establish a medical institute, a quality educational institute, and other socio-economic development projects in the constituency. He further expressed gratitude to the people for supporting his initiatives and assured that continued cooperation and trust will lead to even more developmental works in the future, making the constituency a model area.
