Thoubal, Dec 30: Heirok Police Station organized an awareness program on the new criminal laws, effective from July 1, 2024, at the PS conference hall. Inspector Leimapokpam Amitkumar, Officer-in-Charge of Heirok PS, spoke about the changes brought by the new laws, including the replacement of the IPC with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the CrPC with the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and the IEA with the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA).
The event saw participation from over 100 people, including members of local clubs and Meira Paibi groups from the Heirok and Salungfam areas. Pamphlets explaining the new laws were distributed to the attendees.
