Feb. 13, 2025: An awareness programme on the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC & PNDT) Act, 1994 was conducted today at Sekmaijin Social Club Community Hall as part of the 10th edition of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme. The act is a key element of the scheme, aiming to prevent gender-biased, sex-selective elimination.
The programme was organized by the District Administration Kakching in collaboration with the District Programme Officer (DPO) Kakching, ICDS Cell, Kakching. Alongside the awareness session, a plantation drive was also carried out by officials at Sekmaijin Gram Panchayat.
Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, which translates to ‘Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child,’ was launched on 22nd January 2015. The scheme focuses on addressing gender bias, ensuring the survival and protection of the girl child, and promoting education and participation to empower girls.
