Awareness Programme on Women and Adolescent Girls’ Health and Nutrition Held at Kakching Khunou

An awareness programme on women and adolescent girls’ health and nutrition was conducted today at Kakching Khunou High School as part of the ongoing 10-day SANKALP campaign organized by the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) in collaboration with the ICDS Cell, One Stop Centre, and Shakti Sadan Home.

M. Bimola, Supervisor of ICDS Cell Kakching and District Nutrition Expert, highlighted the importance of a balanced diet and iron intake during adolescence to support growth and overall well-being. She emphasized that proper nutrition is essential for the production of red blood cells and physical development among girls.

In the keynote address, Ng. Nandita, Supervisor of ICDS Cell Kakching, explained the role of the One Stop Centre, which provides medical aid, legal guidance, psycho-social counselling, temporary shelter, and police facilitation for women and girls under a single platform. She also detailed the Women Helpline 181, a 24×7 toll-free service connecting women in distress to emergency support, including the Shakti Sadan Home, and outlined the objectives of Mission Shakti, aimed at integrating women’s safety, health, education, livelihood, and social security.

The programme was attended by Kh. Bhagyachandra Singh, Principal in-charge of Kakching Khunou High School, and N. Parango Singh, DPO/CDPO Kakching of the Social Welfare Department. The 10-day campaign will conclude on 12 September 2025.
