In a major leap for healthcare in the region, BABINA Hospital has introduced a cutting-edge high-frequency multi-purpose surgical laser system, becoming the first facility in Manipur to offer this advanced technology. The development marks a significant step forward in providing safer, minimally invasive surgical procedures with faster recovery times and improved outcomes.
Unlike traditional surgical tools, the newly installed laser reduces bleeding and minimizes tissue damage through precise targeting. It also offers better absorption in water-rich tissues, helping to reduce complications and eliminate adverse impacts on blood components.
The laser can be used across a wide range of medical procedures, including treatment of varicose veins, piles, anorectal fistulas, spinal disc decompression, and surgeries such as cyst removal, adhesiolysis, and vaginoplasty.
Dr. Sidartha Lukram, Endo-Vascular Surgeon at BABINA Hospital, said the installation is a milestone in surgical care for the region. “To the best of my knowledge, this is the first system of its kind in Manipur. It enables a broad range of procedures with increased safety and fewer side effects, which directly benefits patients,” he stated.
Medical professionals believe the advanced laser will enhance patient comfort, reduce hospital stays, and minimize post-operative complications. Patients undergoing laser-assisted surgeries typically recover faster and resume normal activities sooner than those receiving traditional surgical care.
Dr. Shyamkumar Laishram, Medical Superintendent at BABINA Hospital, emphasized the hospital’s commitment to innovation and accessibility. “We aim to deliver safe, patient-centered care. Such technologies should be available where they are most needed, not just in metro cities,” he said.
BABINA Hospital has already begun offering endo-vascular laser surgeries at affordable rates, ensuring the public has access to high-quality surgical options. The initiative aligns with the hospital’s mission to promote evidence-based advancements and improve the availability of modern healthcare solutions in the region.
