Bangladesh Offers Mediation for India-Pakistan Tensions

April 28, 2025: Bangladesh has expressed readiness to mediate between India and Pakistan amidst escalating tensions, advocating for dialogue to resolve longstanding conflicts.

Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Towhid Hossain highlighted Dhaka’s stance, emphasizing the region’s need for stability and the avoidance of heightened conflict risks.

In a press briefing at the Foreign Ministry, Advisor Hossain highlighted Bangladesh’s commitment to fostering peace in South Asia. He acknowledged the historical challenges between India and Pakistan but stressed Dhaka’s impartial stance and its good relations with both neighboring countries.

Regarding recent reports of Bangladeshi arrests in India, Advisor Hossain clarified that Bangladesh awaits official confirmation, asserting that identity verification is crucial before repatriation decisions can be made. He emphasized the complexity of determining nationality solely based on the language spoken, amid a diverse population in India.
