As part of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme, the District Administration Kakching on May 8, 2025, distributed a sanitary napkin vending machine and a sanitary napkin incinerator machine to Kakching Higher Secondary School free of cost. The initiative is aimed at promoting safe Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) and ensuring easy access to sanitary products for girl students.
The distribution drive was carried out under the supervision of the District Administration in collaboration with the District Protection Officer (DPO), ICDS Cell, Kakching, and the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Kakching. Launched in 2015, the BBBP scheme focuses on educating people against gender bias and enhancing welfare services for girls.
To spread awareness, officials also handed out notebooks and posters containing details of the Women Helpline (181) and Child Helpline (1098). Students and teachers were informed about how these helplines can be used in times of distress.
Similar awareness materials were also distributed to students of Wabagai Higher Secondary School.
