March 4, 2025: The “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” (BBBP) scheme, which aims to educate citizens against gender bias and improve the efficacy of welfare services for girls and women, was highlighted during a motivational and inspirational week at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Ukhongsang, Thoubal. The event was organized by the District Programme Officer (DPO), ICDS Cell, Thoubal, as part of the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the scheme.
During the program, students interacted with officials from various departments and participated in activities, including a tree plantation drive on the school campus. Additionally, sanitary pad vending machines were distributed to promote menstrual hygiene among girls.
Dignitaries present on the occasion included Dr. Rajkumari Lilapati Devi, Head of the Department of Mass Communication at Manipur University; Arambam Anilkumar, Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Thoubal; Dr. Y. Nokul, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Thoubal; N. Parango, DPO, ICDS Cell, Thoubal; Th. Romita, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO); Dr. A. Satyapati, Woman Sub-Inspector; and Ch. Basanta, District Programme Manager (DPM).
Officials from the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Cell, Thoubal, conducted an awareness session to inform students about the objectives and benefits of the BBBP scheme.
Following the program, students visited the Women Police Station, Thoubal, where they gained insights into the functioning of law enforcement, particularly concerning women’s safety and legal rights.
