BGB Seizes Indian Goods Worth Tk 12 Crore

March 13, 2025: (Agencies) In a major operation against cross-border smuggling, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a record-breaking consignment of Indian goods worth Tk 12 crore from the Pratappur border area of Goainghat upazila in Sylhet.
This is the largest haul ever intercepted at the Sylhet border, signaling the presence of a strong India-Bangladesh smuggling syndicate operating in the region.

The raid was conducted on Wednesday by the 48 BGB Battalion under the Sylhet sector. Acting on intelligence inputs, BGB personnel launched a series of operations at multiple locations along the Pratappur border, successfully intercepting the illegal shipment.

The seized goods include large quantities of Indian sarees, cosmetics, cumin, malta, and other high-value products.
Confirming the development, 48 BGB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Nazmul Haque briefed the media.
