September 16, 2025 : In an address that cut through the noise of recent criticisms, N. Biren Singh, former Chief Minister, stood firm in defence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the inaugural ceremony of the Liangmai-Imphal Market held at Ideal Club, Sagolband Tera Keithel, today.
The function marked a significant step toward economic inclusion and inter-community cooperation, with dignitaries such as Awangbow Newmai, Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh, R. Machundoubou, and Kh. Chingkhei Luwangcha in attendance.
Organised by the Liangmai-Imphal Market Committee, the event celebrated not just a new marketplace, but a new beginning for Liangmai traders and valley-based consumers to come together in peace and progress.
In his speech, Biren Singh strongly defended PM Modi’s recent visit to Manipur, his first since the ethnic unrest shook the state.
“It is Prime Minister Modi who had the courage and responsibility to visit Manipur during such a critical time,” Biren said, addressing the gathering with unwavering conviction.
