Biren & Himanta Backlash Bangladesh Chief Adviser for Controversial Remarks

Former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma have strongly backlashed against Bangladesh’s interim government chief adviser, Muhammad Yunus, over his recent controversial remarks that have been widely criticized for challenging Northeast’s sovereignty.

Taking to social media, Biren Singh condemned Yunus’ statements, calling them “provocative and irresponsible.”

He said, “The remarks made by Md Yunus, accusing Bangladesh of using India’s Northeast as a geopolitical pawn, are unbecoming of a leader. Such statements only serve to strain regional relations and fuel unnecessary tensions.

India’s unity and territorial integrity are non-negotiable, and no external force, regardless of its size or influence, can challenge our sovereignty. If Bangladesh continues down this path, there will be consequences they will soon regret. I urge Md Yunus to exercise restraint and respect India’s sovereign position. Reckless comments about a nation as powerful as India could have lasting repercussions.”

In addition, Assam CM Sarma also expressed his outrage, describing Yunus’ comments as offensive and unacceptable, particularly his claim that Bangladesh could act as a gateway for India’s northeastern states.

Both leaders stressed the urgency of fortifying infrastructure and security in the region, underlining the need for stronger safeguards against external threats.
