Former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh returned to Imphal today after a visit to Delhi, where a delegation of BJP legislators from Manipur met senior central leaders to discuss pressing state issues.
Speaking to the media at Imphal Airport, Biren Singh said the delegation conveyed the aspirations of the people for the formation of a new popular government in the state. Discussions also included the plight of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the reopening of highways to restore normalcy and connectivity.
He emphasized that the timing of government formation rests with the central leadership, noting that state representatives can only present the public’s concerns and expectations. Reflecting on Manipur’s political history, Biren Singh said President’s Rule had been imposed 11 times previously due to law and order situations, even when no major political crisis existed.
The former Chief Minister reaffirmed that the BJP remains committed to ensuring the safety of citizens and their properties and will continue working closely with the Centre to maintain stability and peace in Manipur.
