Biren Warns of Political Manipulation to Destabilize State, Announces ₹2.4 Crore for Waterbodies in Khangabok

Imphal: Jan 30 : Manipur CM N. Biren Singh on Thursday alleged that certain politicians were collaborating with forces seeking to destabilize the state and that excessive political interference in Manipur’s ethnic issues had led to confusion among the people and fueled internal conflicts.

While speaking at a public interaction programme at UYC Ground in Khangabok, Thoubal district, he pointed out that many people still lacked a clear understanding of the ongoing crisis and clarified that the state government’s opposition was directed at newly arrived immigrants involved in drug-related activities rather than long-term residents.

Manipur CM was accompanied by Minister Th. Biswajit Singh, Dr. Sapam Ranjan, L. Susindro Meitei, and MLAs Sapam Kunjakeswor, Thongam Shanti, Khongbantabam Ibomcha, and Md. Abdul Nasir, and he was accorded a warm welcome by students and locals upon his arrival.

He emphasized the need for people to recognize their real adversaries, stating that Manipur had been subjected to attacks from external forces.

The Chief Minister further warned that political agendas had created divisions among the people and alleged that some politicians were covertly working with elements attempting to break the state.

Although he refrained from naming any specific individual or party, he claimed that certain agents within the Imphal valley were siding with those seeking to destabilize Manipur.

He urged the public to remain cautious of such influences while assuring them that the state would remain united.

During the event, Biren also addressed various grievances raised by the local residents and announced several development initiatives for Khangabok. He pledged ₹50 lakhs for installing water pumps across four paddy fields, namely Louhonbi Loukon, Keipha Loukon, Kiyam Loukon, and Tentharam Loukon. Additionally, he assured the development of an open gym in the area.

Acknowledging public concerns regarding water conservation, the Chief Minister announced that projects for the development of Ikop Pat and the channel cleaning of Loukhong Pat would be incorporated into the government’s work program, each receiving ₹1.2 crore in funding.
