Birth of ‘Prince of Peace’ Celebrated Widely in Manipur

Dec 25, 2025 (IMP): The birth of the ‘Prince of Peace’ was celebrated across the state on Wednesday with prayers, hymns, and worship, as Christians around the world marked Christmas. At the Manipur Baptist Church (MBC) in Imphal, large gatherings of worshippers were seen after two years of reduced attendance due to violence in the state. Devotees, dressed in traditional and festive attire, gathered from early morning to offer prayers to Lord Jesus Christ for peace and harmony in Manipur.

Former MP and NPP State President Dr. Lorho D. Phoze, National Vice President I. Hemochandra, and Kakching AC MLA M. Rameshwar were also present. Speaking to the media, Dr. Phoze said:
“I think Manipur is one of the best examples of the diversity that India has. We have various communities, each with their own aspirations and visions. Today, as we celebrate Christmas, we acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. His birth brought the message: ‘Glory to God in the highest, peace on earth, goodwill toward men.’ Peace on earth comes when we extend goodwill toward each other, shedding differences and embracing one another in love.”

Rev. Zuankamang Daimai, Pastor of MBC, added:
“The blood of Jesus Christ is about the love of God that manifests through Him. God has given us peace through Christ Jesus. Those who believe and trust in Him have inner peace in their hearts. This Christmas, we celebrate that God has given us peace and love, and the message is to respect, forgive, and love one another, regardless of differences.”

This year, MBC witnessed a large turnout of worshippers, marking the first major Christmas gathering in two years following local unrest, reflecting renewed hope, faith, and unity among the Christian community in Manipur.
