Bishnupur Gears Up for 100% Aadhaar Coverage: DC Leads the Charge

In a decisive push towards achieving 100 percent Aadhaar saturation, Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, today chaired the District-Level Aadhaar Monitoring Committee Meeting for the calendar year 2025.

The meeting was held at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur, and was attended by key district officials and representatives of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

The primary agenda of the meeting centered on strategies to attain universal Aadhaar coverage in the district, with a strong focus on Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) for children, Enrolment and Update (E&U) activities, and the implementation of the Birth Registration-Based Aadhaar Enrolment (BRBAE) project.

A district-wide Aadhaar enrolment and update drive will officially commence from Monday, July 7, targeting individuals who are yet to be enrolled or require biometric updates.

In her address, DC Pooja Elangbam underlined Aadhaar’s critical role in accessing government welfare schemes, subsidies, and official documentation. She stressed that biometric updates are compulsory at two key stages—MBU 1 (5 to 7 years) and MBU 2 (15 to 17 years)—and warned that failure to update could result in deactivation of the Aadhaar number.

She urged all concerned officials to ensure timely updates and to actively disseminate awareness through every touchpoint available in their respective departments.

As a resource person, Oinam John Singh, Assistant Manager, UIDAI Regional Office Guwahati, delivered a comprehensive presentation covering Aadhaar saturation strategies, status of E&U activities, BRBAE rollout, and the use of state government portals for issuing digitally verifiable Aadhaar-linked documents.

The meeting was also attended by ADM Bishnupur Toijam Opendro, SDOs and BDOs of Nambol and Moirang, CMO and ZEO Bishnupur, members of the District Aadhaar Monitoring Committee, UIDAI officials, and other concerned stakeholders.

The DC concluded the session by urging collective and proactive participation to reach the 100 percent saturation goal within the set timeline.
