Bishnupur Hosts District-Level ASHA Convention 2025

The District Health Society, Bishnupur, organised the District-Level ASHA Convention 2025 at Kiyamba Ningshing Shanglen on December 2, recognising the extensive contributions of ASHA workers to strengthening grassroots healthcare.

Opening the programme, Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam underscored the vital part ASHAs play in improving community health outcomes, from facilitating immunisation and maternal services to responding to outbreaks and promoting public awareness during epidemics. She described them as key pillars in achieving healthier communities and noted that the state’s low infant mortality rate reflects their sustained efforts.

Emphasising the need for continued vigilance, coordination, and updated knowledge, she called on ASHAs to remain proactive in their engagement with local health systems.

During the ceremony, the district’s Best ASHA Award was presented, and long-serving ASHAs were honoured for their commitment. The event drew participation from senior health officials, including Chief Medical Officer L. Raichandra Singh, State Nodal Officer (ASHA) Jubilee Wahengbam, District Nodal Officer (ASHA) L. Kuber Singh, District TB Officer S. Brojen Singh, and District Hospital Bishnupur Medical Superintendent Kh. Satyabala Devi.
