Acting swiftly on credible intelligence provided by 33 Assam Rifles and corroborated by its own sources, Bishnupur Police arrested an active woman cadre of the proscribed outfit KYKL (SOREPA) from Leimaram Mamang Leikai area early this morning.
The joint operation was launched at around 8:00 am following reports of armed miscreants threatening local residents, businessmen, and shopkeepers for extortion in the area. A combined team of Bishnupur Commando Unit and two women personnel from Nambol Police Station, led by HC W. Sanathoi Singh and commanded by OC-CDO Bishnupur Sub. Y. Shaktishen Singh, carried out the search operation under the supervision of Addl. SP (Ops) Amarjit Singh Lamabam, MPS, and overall guidance of SP Bishnupur Ksh. Ravikumar Singh, IPS.
The team successfully apprehended Leichombam Pakpi Devi (37), wife of Oinam Rabichandra Meitei alias Angangcha alias Sana, originally from Lamjao Makha Leikai and presently residing at Leimaram Mamang Leikai. She was arrested from her residence at 8:59 am.
According to police sources, she was actively involved in recruiting new cadres into KYKL (SOREPA). During the operation, a smartphone and a keypad mobile phone were recovered from her possession. The items were formally seized at 10:01 am at the CDO Complex, Tera Urak.
The arrested individual, along with the seized items and relevant documents, has been handed over to Nambol Police Station for further legal action.
