BJP Manipur Leaders Hit Out at Congress Over ‘Vote Theft’ Allegations

Senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh on Tuesday strongly criticized the Congress party, calling its allegations of electoral malpractice “baseless” and “desperate.”

Addressing reporters at the party office in Nityapat Chuthek, BJP Vice President N. Nimbus said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks branding the BJP as “vote chor” were an attempt to mislead the public. He asserted that people were politically aware and knew which party had engaged in unfair practices in past elections. Citing development under the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, he claimed Congress had lost credibility due to corruption during its tenure between 2004 and 2014.

Echoing the criticism, BJP General Secretary K. Sharatkumar accused successive Congress leaders—from Jawaharlal Nehru to Rahul Gandhi—of sidelining rivals, undermining democratic institutions, and misusing constitutional bodies. He said Rahul Gandhi preferred street slogans over raising issues in Parliament or courts and predicted defeats for the Congress in upcoming state elections.

Concluding, Sharatkumar alleged the Congress was “driven solely by the pursuit of power” and would struggle to return to office for the next two decades.
