June 4, 2026 (IMP): BJP Manipur State President A. Sharda Devi has been approved as the candidate for the Rajya Sabha election from Manipur by the BJP Central Election Committee this afternoon.
The term of the incumbent representative, Maharaja Sanajaoba Leishemba (BJP), expires on June 21. The Rajya Sabha election for Manipur’s lone seat is scheduled for June 18, 2026. The voting will take place between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, followed by the counting of votes at 5:00 PM.
Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, the current State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Manipur, is the first woman to hold the position. Appointed in June 2021, she previously served as the National Vice President of the BJP.
