BJP Legislators Conclude Meeting, Former CM N. Biren Confident of Returning to Peace

With the BJP discussion over tea coming to an end, Manipur’s former CM N. Biren Singh, after the meeting, informed the media that the meeting mainly stressed on bringing peace back to the state and exploring ways to reinstate a popular government as per the people’s wishes.

On being asked about the expected time for the formation, former CM N. Biren Singh replied that things are improving now for a good beginning. He also appreciated the Civil Society Organisations AMUCO, COCOMI, and FOCS, stating that they have also begun talks with the Ministry of Home Affairs along with the Kuki brethren. He added that a signal has been given that legislators are ready and there is now strong faith that peace will be restored soon.

Altogether, 22 legislators attended the meeting, chaired by its president A. Sharda Devi today at its state office ‘Thabal Sanglen’ in Imphal. At least 9 BJP legislators did not arrive at the venue for the meeting. The legislators include MLA Th. Radheyshyam (Heirok), MLA L. Susindro (Khurai), U. Deben (Wabgai), MLA S. Kebi Devi (Naoriya Pakhanglakpa), MLAs Dinganglung Gangmei (Nungba) and S. Olish (Chandel).

Meanwhile, Thanga MLA T. Robindro informed the media that the party president recently met some central leaders and wanted to convey the message of the meeting.
