JAN 6, 2026 (IMP): BJP MLA Yumnam Khemchand urged the Government of India to take the blast incident seriously and investigate the case in which two persons were injured at Saiton Nganukon village under the Kumbi Assembly Constituency of Bishnupur district yesterday.
“I wonder why such an incident occurred at a time when the Government of India and the President’s Rule administration are working hard to bring peace and normalcy to the state,” the BJP MLA said, strongly condemning the incident and expressing his prayers for the speedy recovery of the two injured persons (one male and one female) who are currently undergoing treatment at JN Hospital, Imphal.
The fresh violence at this critical juncture made him suspect that foreign agencies or external hands could be trying to take advantage of the ongoing conflict in Manipur to create further trouble, Khemchand added. He also said that the incident occurred at a time when different civil society organisations are trying hard to restore peace in Manipur. It may be recalled that a firing incident also occurred at Torbung recently.
The BJP MLA also reminded the people of Manipur that the ongoing civil war and conflicts in Myanmar and Bangladesh are affecting the Northeast region.
