Blood Donation Camp Organised to Mark Birthday of Waikhong PS OC

Kakching, Dec 19: A voluntary blood donation awareness-cum-camp was organised on Friday at Waikhong High School Ground to mark the 43rd birthday of Inspector Dr. Okram Jotin (LLB), Officer-in-Charge of Waikhong Police Station.

The camp was jointly organised by Youth Progressive Club, Waikhong, in collaboration with BSF 151 Bn F-Coy, 46 Assam Rifles COB Waikhong, Lions Club Thoubal Greater Centurion, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Thoubal Branch, Meira Paibi Apunba Waikhong, Association of Voluntary Blood Donors Manipur, Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS Imphal, Blood Centre Babina Diagnostic Hospital, Khabeishoi State Blood Transfusion Council, Manipur, and several Langmeidong-based organisations.

The programme was held under the theme “Give Blood, Good Hope — Together We Save Lives.”

Among those present were Addl. SP Kakching Shangkarjit Loitongbam (MPS), Addl. SP Kakching Amarjit Lamabam (MPS), SDPO Sugnu Anthony Suresh, Dharampal (AC), BSF 151 Coy, ACAR Trivedi of 46 Assam Rifles COB Waikhong, and former Pradhan of Lamjao, Urikkhinbam Narjit, along with a large number of local residents.

Speaking on the occasion, Inspector Dr. Okram Jotin stressed the importance of voluntary blood donation, stating that one unit of blood can save up to three lives. He said blood cannot be manufactured or bought and that voluntary donation remains the only source. He added that instead of celebrating his birthday lavishly, he chose to observe the day through a meaningful social service initiative.

Dr. Jotin appealed to the public to actively participate in such humanitarian activities for the welfare of society. Participants and well-wishers extended greetings and appreciation for his initiative and commitment to social service.
