Irate locals in the large Paobitek Mayai Leikai in Imphal West took to the street in protest after the body of missing Chesam Abdul Kadir (aka Achouba) (29) was found this morning at Samurou Naorem Nambulmapal by state police.
The State Police so far has arrested altogether six individuals, including three members of ‘Arambai Tenggol,’ in connection with the case.
Chesam Abdul Kadir (29), now deceased, had been missing since the intervening night of 10th–11th June from Paobitek Mayai Leikai. Before going missing, he was found to be at a house in Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai, Mayai Lambi College Gate, Imphal West District. The owner of the house, identified as Heikrujam Prafulo Singh (35), has also been arrested and remanded to police custody till the 23rd of June.
The other five arrested in connection with the case have been identified as Longjam Henson (alias Naocha Meitei, 24); Thounaojam Ashok Singh (20) of Wangoi Longjam Leikai, Imphal West District; and Huidrom Shyamsunder Singh (30) of Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai, Tera Makhong, Imphal West District; Heikrujam Premchand @Puremba (28) of Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai — all three are ‘AT’ members. The other person arrested has been identified as Sapam Dayani Devi (42) of Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai.
All the arrested individuals were produced before the Magistrate and remanded into police custody till June 23rd.
