Manipur Police, acting on the Facebook bomb threat video posted from the account “Meitei Lanmi Naotyboy”, have arrested Phamdom Phampok Meitei alias Ajay/Abungcha (29), who was allegedly planning to hurl a bomb at the ongoing Sangai Festival 2025, along with two other KCP (MFL) cadres.
The operation was carried out jointly with the Assam Rifles following digital tracking of the threat.
Police sources confirmed that Ajay, a resident of Wangjing Bazar in Thoubal district, played a direct role in the planned attack on the festival venue.
Alongside him, authorities also arrested Laishram Sonia Devi (31) of Okram Chuthek, Imphal East, who was taken into custody from her house for her involvement in extortion activities, and Salam Luwangnganba Meetei alias Ibungo (22) of Tera Sadokpam Leikai, who was also linked to the threat network.
The arrests stemmed from the follow-up probe into the Facebook video, which threatened a bomb strike at the festival.
Security around the Sangai Festival has been further tightened, while police continue to probe the online activities associated with the “Naotyboy” account. Officials said further investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests may follow.
