March 10, 2025 : The book “Exercise Models of Yogic and General: A Comparative Study” was released by Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Honourable Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, at the VC Committee Room, MU. The book is authored by Dr. Maibam Nodiyachand Singh, Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, former Head of the Department of Yoga, and NCC Cell Coordinator at Manipur University.
Dr. Nodiyachand, a Yoga and Sports Science scholar for 33 years, stated that the book is a result of 14 years of research and will help in treating lifestyle diseases through prescribed exercise models, similar to medical prescriptions. He shared successful case studies where specific exercises alleviated ailments such as symptomatic cervical spondylosis and body deformities.
Prof. M. Chourjit Singh elaborated on the book’s structure, which consists of five chapters: Yoga and General Exercise, Related Literature, Methodology, Analysis of Data, Result and Discussion, and Conclusion and Recommendation. He highlighted that the book would serve as a valuable resource for research scholars, students of Physical Education, and those studying Sports Science.
Prof. N. Lokendra Singh congratulated the author and emphasized how the book would contribute to a healthier society. He also appreciated the evolution of Yoga practices since 2015.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Prof. Nongmaithem Rajmuhon Singh, Former Vice-Chancellor of D.M. University, Prof. Dr. Premlata Maisnam, Dean, School of Education, MU, Prof. Debananda Singh Ningthoujam, Professor & Head, Department of Biochemistry, MU, and Prof. R.K. Hemakumar Singh, Former Dean of Student Welfare & School of Engineering, MU. Mr. Sougrakpam Bhubon Singh, Secretary of the All Manipur Columnists Union (AMCU) and President of Manipur Apex Handloom, was also present.
Dr. Y. Shantikumar Singh delivered the welcome address, while Dr. S. Sunil Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, MU, gave the vote of thanks. Faculty members, scholars, and students from various departments, especially from the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, attended the event.
