December 28, 2025 : A book titled “Colonial Records of the Kuki Raids in Manipur and their Impact (1878–1914)”, authored by Yumnam Rajeshwor Singh, was released on Saturday at the Manipur Press Club.
Published by Keithel Express Private Limited, the book release function was attended by retired IAS officer Dr R.K. Nimai; Assistant Professor of History at Oriental College, Dr Oinam Daniel; Assistant Professor of Philosophy at DM University, Dr Michael Samjetsabam; and former Dean of the School of Human and Environmental Sciences, Manipur University, Prof W. Nabakumar, who participated as resource persons and dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, author Yumnam Rajeshwor Singh said the book is based on extensive research carried out at the National Archives of India, New Delhi, where he studied more than 5,000 files related to Manipur.
He stated that the book has been brought out as archival literature to ensure that future generations are able to learn about and understand these historical records.
Rajeshwor further said that the colonial records clearly document incidents of Kuki attempts to colonise border areas. He expressed hope that the publication would contribute to informed historical discourse based on documented archival evidence.
