Dr. Rajendra Kumar, Secretary (Border Management), Ministry of Home Affairs, today reviewed security preparedness and infrastructure development along the strategically important India–Myanmar border, advocating the rapid integration of drones and advanced sensor systems to establish a robust and “smart” border management framework.
During his official visit to Moreh in Tengnoupal district, Dr. Kumar conducted on-ground inspections of frontline border posts and surveillance installations, interacting with personnel to understand operational challenges and field-level requirements.
He later chaired a high-level review meeting with officials of the Assam Rifles, the local administration, and other security agencies, stressing the need to optimise patrolling patterns and strengthen real-time intelligence sharing.
Commending the forces for their dedication in a sensitive border environment, the Secretary reiterated the Centre’s commitment to safeguarding national integrity while enabling legitimate cross-border trade.
He urged all agencies to maintain high operational readiness and proactive coordination to effectively curb illegal activities and ensure lasting regional stability along the Indo-Myanmar frontier.
