March 23, 2026 (IMP): Mao Police, along with CRPF (A/109 Bn) and B Coy 16 AR, intercepted suspected brown sugar weighing around 174 gm, packed in 15 soap cases, and arrested one drug trafficker at Mao Checkpoint while he was trying to head towards Nagaland on Monday afternoon at around 2:30 PM.
The contraband item was found concealed behind both the front seat bags of a white A-Star Maruti Suzuki bearing registration no. HR05AG9844 during frisking and checking at Mao Checkpoint. The arrested person was identified as Firoz (35), son of Md. Kamaruddin, from Yairipok Tulihal Mayai Leikai of Imphal East.
The police also seized a wallet containing Rs. 5000, an Aadhaar card, an ATM card, and a driving licence, all in the name of the arrested person, and a case has also been registered in connection with the incident.
