November 25, 2025 : Under the aegis of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Frontier HQ BSF M&C Silchar, the Adhoc M&C XVI Battalion of the BSF organized a Civic Action Programme 2025–26 at Excellent Model Academy School, Ukhangshang, on Tuesday. The initiative was carried out under the directions of Adhoc Sector Manipur.
Five remote educational institutions located on the foothills of the sacred Nongmaiching Hill and the Western Manipur ranges, around 14 km away from NH-102 (AH-01), were selected for the programme. The schools included The Message Mission English Medium School, Eastern Blooming Flower School, Excellent Model Academy School, Sekmai Khumbi High School and The Little Rose English School, altogether covering approximately 1,600 student beneficiaries.
In addition to the school distribution, assistance was extended to displaced families at the Rice Mill IDP camp in Thoubal, while Nambashi Horton Village in Kamjong District received Syntex water tanks and essential supplies in response to their demand.
Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal, Hannah Kahmei, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. She was joined by DIG Surender Kumar of Adhoc Sector Manipur and Thoubal SP Manoj Prabhakar. The dignitaries distributed stationery kits, sports equipment, wall clocks, furniture, ceiling fans and water tanks to students and beneficiaries from eight villages.
Addressing the students, the Commandant of the Adhoc M&C XVI Bn BSF urged youth to remain focused on education, maintain physical fitness, stay away from drugs and stress, and work towards clear career goals. He encouraged them to join the Security Forces and assured support for pre-recruitment training. The programme, he stated, aims to strengthen trust with tribal and local communities and build long-term peace in conflict-affected areas.
