Sept. 08, 2026 (IMP): A large number of people, including music lovers in Manipur, came together unitedly at the gate of Sacred Kangla in Imphal on Tuesday to join the candlelight vigil demanding justice and to pay tribute to the loving memory of the late Chongtham Vikram, who was lynched to death in Delhi by a group of intoxicated goons on Sunday night in South Delhi.
All the music lovers and community members demanded swift justice against such an inhuman, brutal murder of this soft-hearted musician. During his lifetime, Vikram played as lead guitarist in Manipur, pioneering Ultra Vires’, ‘Phoenix’, ‘Easter Dark’, and ‘FUBAR GHETTO’ (formed and based in Delhi) and a few others.
The legend was originally from Thangmeiband in the Imphal West district of Manipur, and he was the eldest son of renowned classical and playback singer Chongtham Onbi Kamala Devi.
According to Delhi Police, they registered an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for mob lynching, arrested seven men, and detained a 15-year-old boy in connection with the case, identified as Bharat Kumar, Ramzan Khan, Deepanshu, Mohan Viswakarma, Vijay, and Mannu.
