A one-day career counselling programme was held today at Ibotonsana Girls’ Higher Secondary School, organised by the Model Career Centre (MCC) under the Directorate of Employment, Government of Manipur, as part of the National Career Service (NCS) initiative aimed at providing comprehensive employment and career-related services to youth.
Highlighting the need for structured career guidance, Additional Director of Employment, Thongam Sobash Singh, stressed the importance of career awareness and urged students to register for the Employment Exchange Card, which offers access to numerous job and skill development opportunities. He noted that there are 17 Employment Exchange complexes in Imphal and 407 MCCs across India working to empower youth.
Resource person Th. Bonbihari Singh introduced students to practical career planning tools such as SWOT analysis and SMART goal-setting, encouraging them to understand their strengths and set achievable goals. The programme saw participation from teaching staff and students, serving as a vital step towards aligning youth aspirations with real-world career opportunities.
The MCC, Imphal West, continues to play a key role in career guidance through regular outreach, counselling sessions, and job fairs, including the successful Mega Job Fair held in December 2022 at Lamphelpat.
