The Sub-National Immunization Day (SNID) 2025 was launched in Chandel today as part of the National Programme for Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI). The district-level program, organized by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Manipur, took place at Old Japhou Market, Chandel District Headquarters.
The launch ceremony was attended by Dr. Joyson Matthew Monsang, Chief Medical Officer of Chandel, SDC/HQ Mothel Saka, and District Immunization Officer Dr. B. Chingdeihnieng. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Monsang highlighted the importance of the polio vaccine and the IPPI program in India. He stressed the role of hygiene and sanitation and urged parents to ensure that their children receive two drops of Oral Poliovirus Vaccine (OPV) during the campaign.
Dr. Monsang assured that the Health Society in Chandel would make every effort to reach all corners of the district to administer the vaccine. The program saw active participation from health workers, ASHA facilitators, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and other community mobilizers, along with parents and caregivers.
Following the inauguration, the dignitaries administered polio drops to children present, officially marking the start of the SNID 2025 immunization drive in Chandel.
