Members of the Sayang Apunba Lup, AT Unit 2, along with Meira Paibi representatives, conducted an inspection visit to the CHC on Friday.
During the inspection, the team found that the condition of the hospital was far below the expected CHC standard. Most of the doctors were found absent from duty. It was also observed that specialist doctors visit the hospital only once a week.
The team demanded the replacement of the Medical Officer in charge of this CHC to ensure the proper functioning of the hospital. They also pointed out that charging extra money for issuing birth certificates is unacceptable and urged immediate action against such practices.
Moreover, the team demanded the replacement of Supervisor Nahakpam Tomba for his high-handedness in charging extra money for issuing birth certificates.
Further, the team urged the authorities concerned to ensure that gynecologists attend night duties regularly.
The inspection team stated that due to these irregularities and unmet demands, they decided to lock the CHC gate until necessary measures are taken.
