Chief minister Y.Khemchand Singh Calls for Greener Manipur in World Environment Day Message

IMPHAL, June 4: Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh has appealed to the people of Manipur to take an active role in protecting the environment, stressing that safeguarding natural resources is a shared responsibility that extends beyond government initiatives.

In his message marking World Environment Day, celebrated under the theme “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future,” the Chief Minister underscored the importance of preserving the state’s forests, rivers, hills, and biodiversity, describing them as essential assets that support both livelihoods and ecological balance.

He noted that Manipur’s rich natural heritage is increasingly threatened by challenges such as deforestation, pollution, climate change, and the degradation of natural habitats. Addressing these issues, he said, requires coordinated efforts from all sections of society.

Calling for greater environmental awareness and action, Khemchand Singh encouraged citizens, especially the youth, to adopt eco-friendly practices, conserve resources, and actively participate in afforestation and cleanliness campaigns.

He also reiterated the need to work collectively towards creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Manipur, ensuring a better future for coming generations.
