Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Attends BJP Foundation Day Event in Noney

Reinforcing the BJP’s focus on the Northeast, Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh attended the party’s 47th Foundation Day programme in Noney district on 6th April, Monday 2026, during his return journey from Jiribam to Imphal.

The event, held at Longmai Part-3 Multipurpose Hall in the Rongmei Naga-dominated district, saw participation from party leaders, workers and local residents. The Chief Minister was welcomed by Nungba MLA Dipu Gangmei along with traditional Rongmei Naga dancers, adding a cultural dimension to the occasion.

During the programme, the Chief Minister, along with State BJP President A. Sharda Devi, hoisted the party flag at Longmai Common Ground amid the singing of Vande Mataram. They were joined by several BJP MLAs in paying floral tributes to party ideologues Deendayal Upadhyaya and Syama Prasad Mukherjee.

In his address, Khemchand Singh spoke about the party’s longstanding commitment to the development of the Northeast. He referred to the creation of the DoNER Ministry under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and highlighted the shift from the Look East to Act East policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed at strengthening connectivity with Southeast Asia. He also acknowledged the support extended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah towards the state’s development.

Later, upon reaching Imphal, the Chief Minister visited Nupi Keithel (Women’s Market), where he was warmly received by local women vendors. He offered prayers at the shrine of Leimarel Sidabi and sought blessings.
