Jan 31, 2026 (Chandel/IMP): The Chothe Baptist Churches Association (Ch. BCA) celebrated its Golden Jubilee (50 years) along with the 5th Triennial Fellowship 2026 at Phaipi Baptist Church, located in Phaipi (Chandonpokpi) village, Chandel district.
The grand celebration began on Friday and will continue till February 2.
The programme is being held under the theme “Standing on the Promises of God.” Prominent speakers at the event include Rev. K. Losii Mao, General Secretary of the Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC); Rev. Boipu Serto, Mission Secretary of the Council of Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI); and Rev. Dr. Hranum Khiang, Executive Secretary of the Chothe Baptist Churches Association.
The celebration features worship services, sermons, gospel songs, choir performances, and various cultural presentations glorifying God. The Golden Jubilee Celebration-cum-5th Triennial Fellowship was formally inaugurated by Bicco Yulhung, President of Ch. BCA.
Special performances were presented by different Baptist Churches and Sunday School children through gospel songs and cultural dances. Rev. Dr. Mathotmi Vasha, Executive Secretary of TBCA, released the hymn book Athieng Laa, while Rev. K. Losii Mao delivered a special message highlighting the role of the Association in strengthening faith and unity.
On the second day, a Monolith (Commemorative Stone) was unveiled by Rev. K. Losii Mao in the morning. Following the historical address delivered by Rev. Dr. Hranum Khiang, a Golden Jubilee Souvenir was released by Rev. Y. David, former Executive Secretary of Ch. BCA. Rev. Losii Mao also spoke as a guest speaker during the worship service.
The main function held in the afternoon was graced by Standhope Yulhung, Retired Principal Secretary, Election Commission of India, as Chief Guest. Y. Bicco, President of Ch. BCA, served as Functional President.
Malsawm Thao, President of Chothe Lim Abom Manipur (Chothe Tribe Union Manipur); H. Ibohal Chothe, Retired Executive Engineer, PWD Manipur; and Thao Hopeson Chothe, Ex-MDC and retired MCS officer, attended as Guests of Honour.
The programme also showcased rich Chothe cultural heritage, including traditional dances, drama, Ruikai Hlakpa, Umajamsheh, Adihal, Ral Lam, Stlun Noh, and indigenous games. Rev. Dr. Hranum Khiang delivered the sermon during the evening service.
On the third day, Rev. Boipu Serto will speak during the morning and afternoon sessions, while a Group Song Competition will be held in the evening.
According to the Executive Secretary, Ch. BCA comprises 11 Baptist Churches, namely Phaipi, Chumbang, Khongkhang, Phaihu, Phaihulon, Phantu, Lunghu, Salemthar, Lamlanghupi, Lirungtabi, and Wapi Baptist Churches.
Marking its 50-year milestone, around 3,000 delegates and believers from different communities are participating in the celebration, making it a moment of joy, thanksgiving, and spiritual unity.
The Association expressed gratitude to God for His guidance over the past five decades and prayed for peace, harmony, and prosperity for all communities. Speaking on the theme, Thao Hopeson Chothe stated that “Standing on the Promises of God” signifies unwavering faith and trust in God, and that the collective participation of people from diverse communities reflects how faith can unite society in love and harmony.
