A stakeholder workshop-cum-group discussion on “Climate Change Adaptation Strategies: A Case Study of Bishnupur, Manipur” was held today at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.
The programme was jointly organized by MANIT Bhopal, IIT Roorkee, JNU New Delhi, RIKA India, Science Hub (Nepal), and the University of Colombo (Sri Lanka) under the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN) project GoAL.
The research team presented findings on Bishnupur’s climate challenges, including floods, landslides, forest fires, and agricultural impacts. Officials highlighted adaptive practices such as flood- and drought-resistant rice varieties and aquaculture.
District officers, including the Divisional Forest Officer and District Fishery Officer, shared inputs on climate change trends and ongoing initiatives. The event was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, AC to DC Bishnupur, Prof. Surabhi Mehrotra of MANIT Bhopal, and research scholars.
