CM announce 10 Lakh ex-gratia for soldier died in duty, Memorial Park coming up at Lamphel

Imphal, 14th January, 2025: For the soldiers who laid their lives in the line of duty, the state government will provide ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the next of their keen. This was announced by Manipur CM N Biren Singh during the observance of the 9th Armed Forces Veterans’ Day-2025, held at 1st MR Battalion’s Banquet Hall, Imphal on Tuesday.


Manipur CM also said an amount of Rs. 3 crores have also been sanctioned for the construction of a memorial park at Lamphelpat, for soldiers of the Indian armed forces from the State, who have laid down their lives for the Nation. And a site measuring half an acre has also been identified for the said, and once the site is constructed any event related to veterans and soldiers of the Armed Forces can also be organized there, he said.


Manipur CM also said around 350 from the state are currently serving as officers in the combined defense forces and the state has produced two Army officers in the rank of Lieutenant Generals in the Indian Army.


During the programme, the Chief Minister felicitated distinguished and gallantry award winning veterans and Veer Naris as a mark of respect for their service towards the nation.


The function was attended by Ministers, Advocate General, Manipur, Chairman Hill Area Committee, Member of Parliament, MLA, Security Advisor to Government of Manipur, Chief Secretary, Administrative Secretaries, high ranking police officials, armed force veterans.
