Imphal, January 22, 2025 : Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for 18 new projects worth an estimated ₹349.51 crore in Tamenglong District.
The initiatives include the construction of police quarters at various locations, improvements to local roads, the establishment of eco-tourism facilities, and the creation of Eklavya Model Residential Schools in Tousem and Pallong. The projects aim to enhance infrastructure and promote sustainable development in the region.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of completing these projects within the stipulated timelines, urging contractors to be diligent in their work.
He warned that the government would only engage contractors who exhibit a genuine commitment to meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of quality.
In addition to these announcements, CM Biren Singh highlighted the ongoing construction of the Tamenglong-Mahur road (NH-137), which, upon completion, will provide a direct route to Assam, bypassing Nagaland and offering easier access to Guwahati.
He reaffirmed the BJP-led government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises and ensuring the quality of work.
The Chief Minister also handed over the Blood Bank licence to Health Director Dr. Chambo Gonmei, noting that Tamenglong is the only hill district in the state to have a blood bank.
Additionally, CM Biren Singh inaugurated 24 new projects, including a Bailey Suspension Bridge over the Barak River, water supply schemes, and a District Early Intervention Centre at the District Hospital in Tamenglong.
