Feb 14, 2026 (IMP): Chief Minister Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh today inspected the rejuvenation work of the Imphal River being carried out at different sites along the river. The rejuvenation work has been taken up as a project to make the river water clean and reduce its Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD).
The Chief Minister took stock of the ongoing eco-embankment work being constructed along the Imphal River near the Lamlong Bridge. The eco-embankment work, stretching a span of 100 metres, has been taken up as a pilot project to reduce bank erosion and improve water quality.
During the inspection, Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh was accompanied by Principal Secretary, Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Shri Arun Kumar Sinha; Director, Environment and Climate Change, Dr. T. Brajakumar Singh; and other concerned officials.
He also visited Khurai Salanthong and inspected the development work being carried out at Pangei Road. He directed the implementing agency to expedite the development work for timely completion and to ease the hardship faced by the public due to poor road conditions.
Earlier, the Chief Minister visited Singjamei Oinam Thingel and inspected the ongoing embankment wall construction along the Imphal River.
