Feb. 17, 2025: In a memorandum submitted to Governor AK Bhalla today, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has called for urgent measures to address the ongoing crisis in the state.
Key among their demands is the expectation for the establishment of a duly elected government within this month, ensuring democratic governance and effective decision-making.
The COCOMI representatives highlighted that the current political turmoil has severely impacted Manipur’s stability, emphasizing the need for immediate intervention. They expressed confidence in the Governor’s ability to restore normalcy and uphold law and order during this critical period.
“We earnestly request the Hon’ble Governor to convey an official message outlining the government’s immediate plan to restore normalcy and address the current political and constitutional uncertainties,” stated the COCOMI memorandum.
The memorandum further outlined a series of concerns and recommendations, including the provision of security for affected villages, the opening of national highways, and measures against illegal activities threatening Manipur’s integrity.
The COCOMI representatives stressed the importance of swift action to safeguard the state’s territorial and administrative integrity, expressing optimism that the Governor’s leadership will bring about much-needed stability.
