Colombia Beats United States 6–4 in Manipur Polo International Opener

Colombia registered a 6–4 victory over the United States in the inaugural match of the 15th Manipur Polo International, 2025, held at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

Colombia began the opening chukkar in commanding fashion, with Alejandro Puyana scoring the first goal within 25 seconds, followed by another strike from Federico Puyana. Alejandro added his second soon after, making it 3–0 and placing the US team under pressure. The Americans managed to pull one back in the 5.35th minute through Elizabeth Kofmehl, ending the chukkar at 1–3.

The second chukkar ended goalless, as the US defence tightened and did not allow Colombia further breakthroughs.

A more confident US side resumed in the third chukkar, with Zackary Coleman scoring early at 1.47 minutes. The momentum shifted again when Federico fired in two quick goals for Colombia, though Zackary responded with another strike before the chukkar closed at 5–3.

Both teams struggled to convert in most of the fourth chukkar. Near the end, Daniel Coleman found the net for the US, but Alejandro retaliated almost immediately to secure Colombia’s win at 6–4.

The US team fielded Elizabeth Kofmehl, Zackary Coleman, Davin Meeker and Daniel Coleman, while the Colombian side consisted of Pablo Serrano, Alejandro Puyana, Federico Puyana and Bimol Singh (on loan from Manipur).

The match was officiated by Vijay Singh of IPA and T. Pradeep of India B.

On the second day of the tournament (Nov 23), India C (Chhattisgarh) will face India B (Manipur), while Colombia is slated to play India A (IPA).
