At the 72nd All India Cooperative Week Celebration held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound, Cooperation Commissioner Dr. Shailesh Kumar Chourasia emphasised that Manipur cannot move towards true self-reliance unless cooperative societies are revived.
He observed that a large number of cooperatives in the state appear to be inactive and stressed the urgent need to reinvigorate the sector through stronger participation and public support.
Organised by the Manipur State Cooperative Union (MSCU), Lamphelpat, under the theme “Cooperative as Vehicle for Atmanirbhar Bharat,” the event saw the presence of key dignitaries including Registrar of Cooperative Societies Waikhom Ibohal, MSCU President L. Tompishak, MSCU Hills Vice President Neilangam Gangmei, MSCU Valley Vice President Kh. Maniton, and ICM Imphal Director Dr. Kh. B. Ramanando.
Dr. Chourasia further stated that the government is extending various welfare schemes to boost the cooperative movement, but their success depends on the active involvement of cooperative members and the collective will of the public.
