Imphal, May 7: Lieutenant General Girish Kalia, General Officer Commanding 3 Corps, visited Somsai and Kakching Garrisons in Manipur as part of his ongoing tour to assess operational preparedness and the prevailing security environment in the state.
Accompanied by the Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) and senior officials, the Corps Commander reviewed security measures and interacted with troops stationed in sensitive operational zones.
During his visit to Somsai, Lt Gen Kalia received a briefing from the Sector Commander on the security situation in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts. He appreciated the personnel for maintaining a high level of professionalism and readiness while operating in challenging conditions.
At Kakching Garrison, the Corps Commander reviewed evolving security dynamics, ongoing counter insurgency operations and initiatives aimed at enhancing operational capability. He commended troops for their sustained efforts in tackling emerging challenges and maintaining effective operational response.
The visit also highlighted technological advancements within the force. Lt Gen Kalia inspected several in-house innovations developed to improve surveillance, operational efficiency and troop effectiveness in difficult terrain conditions.
He later toured the Drone Training Laboratory, where officials briefed him on the use of unmanned aerial systems in operational activities, reflecting the growing integration of technology into modern military operations.
The engagements reaffirmed the Army’s emphasis on operational excellence, innovation and coordination with civil administration and other security agencies to maintain peace and stability in Manipur.
